Kitesurfkings would like to invite all independent kitesurfers, who feel they would benefit from a refresher lesson, to join us from 10am on Sunday 2nd June 2013.

kite clinic

Is your kite always set up perfectly? Always adjusting your trim?? Got all of the rules of the beach/water down??? Already hammering upwind????

It’s unlikely you’ll have retained every single aspect of your kitesurfing course through our often-windless winter and even if you are able to recite the IKO or BKSA handbooks from start to finish there are likely to be practical aspects to you kitesurfing that you could do with some help on. Well, you lucky people! We are here to help!!

Us nice dude recognise the need for refreshers and in the spirit of good will, sportsmanship and keeping Shoreham Beach a safe environment for all, we’re offering our time and efforts… and don’t forget the love… all for free.

We ask that all students are Shoreham Kitesurf Club members; this simply means that you’ve paid your annual £5 membership and that you also have insurance. If you don’t already have third party insurance (r u mad!?) then you can hit two birds by purchasing your third party insurance through the BKSA and allocating £5 to Shoreham Kitesurf Club at the same time.

We’re meeting at The Beach Café in, Ferry Road, Shoreham at 09.30 if you wanna join us for breakfast or at 10.00 if not. You’ll be given professional coaching throughout the day by a professionally qualified kitesurfing instructor; it doesn’t matter how long you wanna hang out for on the day but we’d appreciate it if everyone can please turn up on time 😉

There is a huge amount to learn about kitesurfing and students from the day have the opportunity to bring their kitesurfing on massively. We will be running the day regardless of the wind forecast and can guarantee they’ll be plenty to learn regardless of there being the ideal wind on the day… obviously we’ll be wishing for wind and maximizing all that we have.

This is not a beginner course but a refresher course for those who have already completed a beginner course, have their own kit and know they’ve room to improve… you know who you are! If you have covered the basics, consider yourself to be an independent kitesurfer but don’t have any kit then (you must be mad, how do you kite without kit?!) give us a shout to see if we can help you out with as there are some great second hand bargains and kit deals to be had.

If you are new to kitesurfing, that’s cool, you might even be able to get a lesson in on the day if you book it in with us, then, hopefully you can join us at another Shoreham Kitesurfing Club session in the future. If you’re wishing to learn to Kitesurf give a call and get involved… life’s too short and kitesurfing is too good to miss out on!

Places are limited and so please get your names down early doors! Drop us a line on Facebook or drop Luke a line luke@kitesurfking.com

Beginner kitesurf lessons

All kiting can be awesome but those first few kitesurf rides revisit us in our dreams and keep us content when we can’t get to the water.. good times.

Summer’s back… and so are the Blogs! Sorry for the lack of Blog action guys; we’ve been pretty hot with Facebook updates but sloppy with the Blog so apologies.

Since the last Blog post regarding the Kitesurfkings Beginner Kitesurf Holiday to Egypt, Kitesurfkings have been running kitesurf lessons around Brighton, on Shoreham Beach over at Greatstone/Cambersands (when we have to!) and taking groups for kitesurf sessions and lessons in South Africa and Egypt. So, there’s been a lot going on and we’d love to welcome you to come and join us for kitesurf lessons and in the fun or free kitesurf sessions…

We offer kitesurf lessons here at Shoreham Beach (Shoreham Beach is the closest beach to Brighton that you can learn to kitesurf and the only beach in the area which has no groynes in the teaching zone, so there’s nothing to crash into) 7 days a week and we are happy to teach anytime of day (as long as it’s light!). We have to be flexible to meet our customers needs and to catch the wind when it blows. For kitesurf lesson info you can go to the main Kitesurfkings website http://www.kitesurfkings.com or give us a call on 01273 88 88 33 or 07878 399 419.

We have teamed up with Shoreham Beach Kitesurf Club to help give something back and to keep Shoreham Beach the safest and friendliest beach around. We’ve been offering students who have already covered the basic course with us the opportunity to come back for coaching days, asking only that if happy to do so students make a donation to the RNLI. The last Shoreham Beach Kitesurf Club day clinic was a ‘back to beach’ refresher day and it could not have been more perfect! We will confirm the dates of the next kitesurf day clinics soon so sign up to receive this blog and we’ll pull our fingers out and keep you in the loop.

On the 9th June 2012 Shoreham Beach Kitesurf Club and Kitesurfkings will be representing kitesurfing at Shoreham and the Shoreham Beach, Beach Dreams Festival. It’s a fun day, well two days but really all happens on the Saturday with many nursing hangovers on the Sunday. We would really like it if anyone would like to pop over and say hi, hang out and enjoy the festival with us. Kitesurfkings will be offering lessons as usual (wind permitting) and we will be generally enjoying the festival but there to answer any questions, chat about kiting, show off some of the kit and have a good time. On the Sunday (10th) we will be kitesurfing down wind from Worthing or Littlehampton back to Shoreham Beach. Down wind kitesurf sessions are so much fun and the more of us the more fun we have, so all are very welcome.

Hope to kite with you soon.

Wind is due back tomorrow!

February 20, 2010

For most of the UK and  into Europe the wind forecasts are looking mixed up but certainly windy! Enjoy!!! Hv spoken to loads of kitesurfers planning on kitesurfing tomorrow; for us at Shoreham Beach low tide is at 08.30 and you know there’s going to be a healthy shore dump by mid tide so worth getting up early. Latest forecast for Shoreham shows WSW 16 to 24 knots from 8am to 11am, wind in the early afternoon but dropping off after 4pm. No doubt it’ll be gusty but there could be a meter swell and there will be good times had – personally jealous as won’t be kitesurfing!!! More wind Monday but mega gusty and gusts over 30 knots, mixed forecasts for the rest of the week but there will be the odd day to grab and enjoy.

For Shoreham Beach and the beaches close by we now have a live weather station from the main Kitesurfkings website. It’s already working really well but further improvements are being made so get it in your favourites and we’ll keep wind dancing.

What a fun day, long but fun! We met the BBC South East team at Devil’s Dyke early doors to do some filming of our kite landboarding site but the weather was nasty! The producer arrived bang on time, closely followed by the camera man and then, not so closely but in great spirits, came the PR rep and Kaddy the presenter and weather lady. The view up at Devil’s Dyke is stunning but it was hard to see more than a couple of hundred meters in any direction. Gray, wet and windy was the day ahead…yeah baby, windy! So, all good really!! After a bit of filming at Devil’s Dyke it was straight to Shoreham Beach.

We headed down to Shoreham Beach, had a coffee and met up with the rest of the guys who were getting involved for the day: John (donning a wetsuit rather than a dry suit for the first time this year, using him as a human thermometer I’d say that’s a good sign), Dan (Cabrinha and NPX’d to the max), Olly (representing for Liquid Force), Craig (doing a behind the scenes shoot with all his phat high-tech camera goodness), Elliot (star of the show, pinging around a powerkite whilst being interviewed) and Karen (Elliot’s step mum, a master at looking good whilst being wind swept and interviewed).

Elliot and Karen were interviewed first, flying a powerkite on Shoreham Beach, the wind was already up to 18 knots and quite gusty so Elliot was doing really well (obviously had great instruction!) to keep such great control and be interviewed at the same time. John, Dan and Olly were then in the water, mid tide and bang on shore with a bit of shore dump – fortunately still styling it out with some exceptionally risky kitesurfing tricks, especially from Dan who seemed to enjoy landing kite loops in six inches of water (big up – but remember you’re off to Maui next week fella!).

Between Craig and the BBC lots of great kiting was caught on camera. I (I’m Luke, ‘hi’) taught Kaddy to powerkite and answered some questions and generally had fun, hope it comes out O.K. Dan had an interview too and went out to show some more kitesurfing tricks in the shore dump at high tide. The new HD Go-Pro cameras (which Kitesurfkings sell – pimp, pimp, pimp) caught some super slick footage from Dan’s board and we’ll get that on Kitesurfkings TV, along with the BBC stuff, when it’s ready. Show is on BBC Inside Out South East on 1st March – or check it on BBC iplayer any time after that.

Already Summer?

Fun in the sun

Fun in the sun

Isn’t all this sun so very welcome! Just a little bit more wind and there will be no need to speak badly of English weather again.

Kitesurfkings have been crazy busy, loads of cool stuff going on!

Great reports back from Chris, Christian and Karine out in El Gouna on our kite clinic; our groups have been loving the spot, getting some serious kitesurf sessions in and having maximum fun both on and off the water. We are already booking up our new spot for the next kite clinics – dates coming soon!!!

Regular kite surfing holidays are now being put together for all levels of rider – or wanna be riders. Get in touch if you’re after both sun and wind!?

The 2009 Cabrinha IDS kites have been causing quite a stir. They might have taken their time getting into the country but they’re here and available so do the right thing and purchase a kite you’ll really love – one that actually does what it says!

Kitesurfkings have been asked to help with some up and coming events, some charity, some out of love and others to pay the rent.  On Saturday 3rd of May 2009 Kitesurfkings are helping to raise money for wind surfers 4 cancer research. Everyone taking part will be meeting up at numerous different beaches across the country – 16 in total. We are hoping to sail from sun rise to sun set; if there’s no wind then just being on the water will do, surf boards, paddle boards, rubber rings – whatever floats! All you’ve gotta do is hang out and enjoy the nice kite spot and participants. One of our instructors has already raised £700 – good work Dunk, u da man. Kitesurfkings will be attending the Hayling Island event. It would be great to see you there. Please check out http://www.windsurfing4cancerresearch.com
All donations will be gratefully received. Many thanks!

As usual weather forecasts haven’t been very accurate but we’ve been seeing some cheeky little sea breezes building. Last week we saw a few cheeky sea breezes kick in late afternoon. Today for example the wind’s been building and if you big kites and boards you could be in luck. Wind is predicted for tomorrow (Thursday 30th) so fingers crossed for that and we’ll see you on the water.

We have full time instructors so when there’s wind we can teach you. Last Friday was a great day for lots of our students who were stylin’ it at Shoreham Beach, Sussex – much respect to Gary from Lancing and Miles from Hove who gave it their all and had really good sessions. On Saturday the wind was great first thing but died out in the afternoon but all was not lost. Not all groups were able to run which was a shame as we had lots of students come down from London – not a total loss and a great day was still had.

Wherever you are, Hove, Brighton, Lancing, Worthing, Littlehampton, Eastbourne, Hastings, Sussex, South Coast, London, Wales, Scotland, Ireland – you’ve seen people kite surfing and know you wanna give it a go…
If you’re already kite surfing then get in contact about joining one of our sessions, demos, events or trips abroad. If you’re not yet kiting then what are you waiting for? Get in contact and get yourselves booked in now so you’ll be rockin’ your own kite surfing styles and not just watching and wishing.

Some of our students are wishing to upgrade to the latest Cabrinha IDS kites and want to sell their kites – as you’d guess these kites haven’t seen much action so there are some good deals to be had. Kitesurfkings are not taking a cut or adding commission. If you’re interested then get in contact and we can hook you up with the sellers.

Up for grabs:

•    9m Naish Boxer SLE complete
•    11m 2007 Best Waroo complete
•    7m 2008 Cabrinha Convert complete
•    9 & 12m 2007 Cabrinha Omega completes
•    16m 2006 Cabrinha Contra complete

That’s all from me for now, back to watching the wind and see if we’re going to be kite surfing tonight on the South Coast??
